If the reason you left was because you couldn't afford to live then I don't think you would be penalised for leaving. You would need to have some kind of statement of your income and outgoings (you could do this in an excel sheet). If it gets to the point where you literally can not afford to buy your food, pay your essential bills and get to work - then when you leave, make sure you highlight the fact you couldn't afford to travel to work on the money you had.

So you reason for leaving the job would be you could not afford the travel - this wouldn't be the same as making yourself voluntarily unemployed - I'm sure!

I know it must be a pain thinking you will be worse off than on JSA, but thats more a reflection of the state of the benefits system than anything else - when Universal Credit kicks in, hopefully these kind of problems will be stopped.

But if you're breaking out of the safety net, however great it felt to be in that net, I'm sure this can only be a big positive for you. Who knows where your new found independance will lead you ! :)

Already asked them they said they dont offer a contract of more than 16 hours for new employees and apparently many companies are starting to do the same

This sounds like Aldi except they offer 20HR contracts. It is becoming the norm IMHO.

Not sure if this true but jobs i have been for in the past have mentioned the fact that i was already working shows i can be reliable, get on with other members of staff. Maybe just working part time while you find something else more stable could be a positive thing, you might surprise yourself and enjoy it.
If you need extra hours could you do a cleaning job as well, to bump hours up.
    Hopeful optimistic.
