What's The Best Digital TV Recorder -advice please

Options
Hi there,
Well our poor old video recorder has finally given up the ghost and we need to 'get with it' and purchase a recorder.
What do we go for though?
We don't watch a huge amount of tv but it's nice to have the ability to record some programmes,
With our current freeview we get about 40ish channels, is it possible to get anymore without paying a subscription to anyone?
Any advice would be greatly received thanks

    A Freeview HD recorder.

    If I didn't have Sky + I'd go for a Humax box.

    e.g.

We have a Humax H D and are very pleased with it.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    Thanks for the advice.
Would I get extra channels with the Humax?
    Sorry if I'm being thick!

Sounds like you're getting most, if not all, the available channels, assuming you've just referring to TV channels.

There's a full list here of all the free to view channels.

If you want more free channels then you'd probably have to get a satellite dish. If you're after more 'quality' channels you'll have to pay for them.

P.S. I'll second the Humax box. I had a Freeview box for a few years, now have Freesat. Always used Humax.

If you get the Freeview HD box then you will get the additional Freeview HD channels i.e. BBC1 HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD Channel 4 HD.

And you would need a HD capable TV to display them..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Not allowed to post links yet (something to do with spammers...)

But if you google Humax and then visit the link that takes you to the 'managers specials' you can save a bundle.

I've bought two PVR-9300-G from them and i saved well over £150 on retail prices in total.

    ;)
