Excel Parking Fine

I recently recieved a parking notice from Excel(with photos of my car and reg) and am worried about what to do.Basically I did everything right in the car park but they are saying I didn't display the ticket.Which is all rubbish and lies.
I have recieved the first letter for a £40 charge to pay because of my so-called mistake. Is this all a scam and should I ignore any further letters from these xxxxxx.
Thanks in advance!

This is not any sort of fine!

Yes, its a scam, so just ignore them totally and check the forum sticky to see what scary letters to expect next and count them off till the end of the scam. :)

Yes - ignore. If my mother, who is in her 80s, can do it then I'm sure you can. That was Excel, too - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4023005
If I had a signature, this is where it would go.
  • Thanks to you all for your replys and putting me at ease.I have just finished reading the forum and stickies and realise its a case of sitting it out.
Do they still do the menacing phone calls and if so do I hang up,laugh at them or tell them to go where the sun don't shine.
    Thanks again and respect.

Surely you have a valid ticket and can appeal? Yes, by all means ignore them if your appeal is 'unsuccessful' as you CAN prove that they did not incur liquidated damages from the situation if they do take you to court.

If that isn't the case, then IMHO you should offer them the amount of outstanding parking as a full & final settlement. If they reject it, it makes their case much weaker. I'd also 'forget' to stamp the envelope so it costs them to receive it!

    "Dear ferdinan

We have considered your appeal and have decided that the parking charge was issued correctly as per the displayed terms and conditions of the car-park and have decided to reject the appeal as the ticket was not on display

IMHO at the moment, no-one should write & think they can 'appeal' a PPC fake PCN unless it's a hire/lease/company car (in which case you should write to hook the scam letters in your direction and away from idiots who may just pay it).

The advice may change in October 2012 to the extent that I suspect we would all very much like to block & scupper the planned 'appeals procedure' that the scammers have convinced the Government to let them pretend they have in place.

The more people who use that system when it comes in - knowing full well they have ZERO intention of paying - the better as it will bring it down and expose it for what it really is, with the right publicity. At that time I think it will be a good idea for us to come up with a template appeal letter for posters to then use, including the HMRC -v- VCS ruling. A template a bit like their own - same letter every single time which will annoy them hugely. It might be fun for everyone to sign/scrawl 'MSE Coupon' or 'MSE Kite' or whatever the username is here rather than their own signature (which we do not want the scammers to have). But at the same time we will need to make sure newbies know that the outcome is not binding on the motorist and they must not pay.

It will be like blowing a resounding raspberry at the fake system but in a way that will not put the motorist in a bad light if the odd case is tried in Small claims afterwards. A template letter could be worded with very concise and simple points, then a 'MSE xxxxx' scrawl every time.

But in the above case, ferdinan - IGNORE THE FAKE PCN.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Appealing is like saying that someone is reading the letters and they can be marked down as a potential payer if they get pushed enough
