As to airlines storing a cookie then targetting you by secretly upping the price for you alone - that doesn't sound strictly legal to me.
Since when does something being illegal stop Ryanair from doing it?

So this is illegal, Ryanair are apparently doing it - yet the only mention of it is an unsubstantiated claim by a random person on an internet forum?

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that Ryanair would never do anything like this, it's exactly the kind of thing I can imagine them doing, but surely you need proof before slandering them? I'd be annoyed if I was slandered with no evidence!

Easyjet don't reserve the seats as long as Ryanair do?
There was an error that day and they weren't being reserved at all?

Are you trying to tell me that I took longer than anyone else would reasonably take to book and pay for my flights? Believe me I did not.

Whether you believe me or not is immaterial to me really because I know what happened and I feel sure the same thing would and could happen again if anyone happens to be trying to book flights that someone else is booking at the same time. Business is business I suppose but it taught me - never rely on the price you are quoted until you have actually paid!!!

P.S. For what it is worth I too believe that airlines store cookies and then up the price. Have you ever look at an item you are interested in buying on the internet and then suddenly (on a completely different site you happen to be using) there is a miraculously accurate advert trying to persuade you to buy the very same item you were looking at somewhere else????? Check it out.

But how do you know how long easyJet reserves a seat for you or if they even do? Ryanair and easyJet may have their system set up entirely different.

The story that prices can go up just because you search for flights is still an urban legend, no matter how many times it's repeated.

Agree totally with you but once you have the item in your basket and you are literally in the process of paying for it, I think it is bad customer service to up the price when you actually hit the submit key to pay. When you go shopping and you put an item in your basket at £x.xx and instantly walk to the check out, you don't expect it to have increased in price do you? You do of course still have a choice, as I am sure someone will remind me, but it still rankles.

Happy to hear that you consider yourself sufficiently knowledgeable enough to know that cookies are not stored on your computer and that subsequent enquiries by you are not remembered and consequently acted upon. Until I am just as knowledgeable, I will believe what I wish to believe and you can rest happy in your knowing that it is a urban legend!

When did I even hint that I didn't believe you... Or say that you take too long...

Of course they store cookies - what I am disputing is they are used to up the price for individuals. Funnily enough, I don't take strangers on the internet who provide zero evidence as a good enough basis for believing something!
