Claiming back bank charges and complaint

According to the bank charges page on here I meet most of the conditions to attempt to reclaim a refund. Being originally £30.00 WITHIN my arranged overdraft has resulted in me being charged hundreds of pounds. It started when the £1.00 a day for OD charges started. I was unwell and I suppose it just got out of hand. It then took me into my unarranged OD and then I started getting charges for that too. I attempted to sort it out and had a payment plan set up but then every time I got somewhere more charges would eat up the money I put in and so because I was throwing money into an account I was not using and it wasnt getting me there, I stopped paying money into it as I was stuck in a cycle and too much of my money was being thrown away into this account only to be eaten up again. This was money I desperately needed and still need for rent, bills and food.

Anyway, I am in serious financial hardship and struggling to pay the most basic bills, Ive been signed off work longterm on 3 ocassions now where my pay has been severely reduced and was off due to stress (mainly because of my financial situation. I then was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis due to the stress im under. Lastly I am been charged charges upon charges on a bank account i dont even use. Ive tried to sort it out numerous times but the bank have been absolutely appalling towards me. The person who attempted to 'help' me insisted that 'I cant be that ill because ive spent money on food shopping' The conversation was unpleasant and difficult and I ended up in tears on the phone (all this was in the branch) I offered to send in a doctors letter to prove how poorly that ive been and how my wages have been significantly affected. The only reason I spoke to this person on the phone is because in the branch they refused to help me and said I have to call a number. Never have I spoken to such an insensitive unpleasant person. She made me shake with anger and made me cry. Ok I know im not exactly in the best state but i feel this was uncalled for and they couldve been more supported. So with all this taken into account Ive decided I am going to complain. I explained this to my other bank who I have an account with and they have helped me, they have also said that the way ive been treated is disgusting and I should complain. They said 'If they are able to help me then why cant the other bank?'

So now Im just wondering would it be best to write one letter including my request to have my bank charges (£100s charges on charges on charges!) and complaint all in one letter (may be a bit messy). Or do I write a letter of complaint and write a separate letter requesting a bank charges refund and giving my situation using the guidelines on here? If anybody has any thoughts i would be most grateful. I need to get this sorted. Thanks. Loopin x

I would keep them seperate because it's two different issues, however, in your letter requesting refund you could refer to that particular, in branch, incident as it would show insensitivity as to how you have been treated and could be construed as unfair treatment - particularly in a public place.
