Lovin this thread...
So far I have
- Bought xmas cards (75% off) & wrapping paper (10 rolls for £1) a few days after xmas last year in clearance sale
- written xmas cards in the summer (whilst visiting mum "up north" and left them at her house so she can hand them out with hers and save me postage)
But now it truly feels like xmas is around the corner as I've started shopping and the first present has arrived ! Bought DS (age 17) a pre-loved DVD from @mazon for 1p with £1.26 delivery. I have bought from this seller before and so I know they are good quality.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Is it really bad that I kept used paper from last year to reuse this year? Some of the presents I was generously given had great wrapping paper: so I was careful not to tear it and I kept it all as I always feel guilty at all the paper we use every year. And you can't even recycle wrapping paper where I live
I also kept old Christmas card and cut out some details out of them (a tree, a baby Jesus, etc) to use as tags for presents. I'm so tight0 -

When I was growing up we had to be very careful unwrapping presents for birthdays and christmas because paper was folded up and put away for next year. Sometimes it was used three or four times! I think that's the reason I always buy new :rotfl:0 -

I find all this C*mas gluttony completely OTT.
And you are in a flap about it in August? Completely irrational.
Erm, you may want to avoid the Christmas thread then if it gets your back up :rotfl:0 -
I'm glad I don't look to weird recycling the wrapping paper then :rotfl: My grandmother always does it, so does my mother. And they always seem better at budgeting for the household than I am, so I conclude that they must know a trick or two and that following their example can only be beneficial0

Morning All, I have been lurking on this thread but now need to start getting organised.
I already have plenty of cards and wrapping paper bought in January after last Christmas. Before Christmas I also have my Sisters birthday and my nieces birthday. Got Sis organised with a Clinique gift set I bought in the after Christmas sale in Jan but still need to organise wee Emma (she will be 4 in November).
My pressie buying is for
Mum
Dad
Parents in law
Sister
Sisters OH
2 Nieces - Sisters kids
Hubby (although we usually don't get each other a pressie but put money towards having a short break)
BIL and his wee girl. Usually a tin of nice Biscuits/chocs for BIL and SIL and a 'proper' pressie for niece
Cousin
So far no pressies bought for anyone, which is quite unlike me as I am usually fairly organised. Struggling with less money coming in this year though so need to have a good think.0 -
