Meme, a lot of things seem to have ripened early this year. I have 4kg blackberries in the freezer collected over the last month all big fat sweet and juicy. Think i'll use some to do a blackberry schnapps (might get that started tonight actually) and some to do jam maybe.
I have a lot (a very lot) of courgettes from the allotments (not mine unfortunately, have had all male flowers on mine and no fruit
) everybody else seems to have a glut so will make a start on more chutneys over the next couple of days.
that bunting looks lovely, i'm going to have a go at something similar. my nieces wear dark green gingham school dresses so will be phoning my sister later to see if they have any they've outgrown, and i have some lovely tartan fabric too oh, and, and, and I've just remembered I have some old red velvet curtains in the garage:T

Hi Everyone!
Another de-lurker here! I love all things Christmas and have also decided to start early this year.
I was in £land today and picked up a Peppa Pig Recorder and a Peppa Pig Music Set for my nephew who is 3 - they're a great cheap pressie or stocking filler for those who have young children.
Also got some lovely bubble bath and shower gel - had different "flavours" but I went for the Papaya and Mango, again great stocking fillers for Christmas. Hope this comes in useful for someone!

tut, had a post all ready then cat sat on keyboard and it's gone.
loved that link, thanks
fruit schnapps, very easy
rinse fruit and pack into kilner (or similar) jar
top up with sugar to fill in all gaps
top with vodka
stir/shake well
stir/shake a couple of times a week until sugar dissolved
leave as long as possible
just before christmas, strain and pour into clean bottles
the mini wine bottles work well
the strained fruit can then be used as a very alcoholic icecream topping.
try to save some of the drink to give out as presentsfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -

A bit fiddly if you are sewing but maybe you could cut out oilcloth and stick onto felt or something to stop it from curling.0
