    Hi

A new one here, if you'll take me!

I'm wondering what you all do for decorating, I just have a few ornaments and the tree, I would love to make some of my own decorations but I'm looking for some inspiration.

I like the idea of Christmas bunting (as I finally have a sewing machine) and a HM wreath.

DH is very bah humbug so I'm looking forward to driving him mad this year, mwah haha (<-evil laugh)

    Hi :)

I really like the paper snowflakes we used to make in primary school! A couple on the window look pretty!

Candles give such a romantic, cosy & warm feel and recently I saw how to make a yule log sort of like http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1152&bih=647&tbm=isch&tbnid=VlPIEnhpBGDjSM:&imgrefurl=http://www.wiccantogether.com/forum/topics/yule-logs&imgurl=http://api.ning.com/files/7B0dZBLBch9IXXcHA7qQ7ROvG6-fjgZLUctI9FDQMxcqojgsC8MHu8pU5kZZZVtg4EnWT*btBPJnGasyZncgWMoAal2yQCbT/16_Yule_Log_Big.jpg&w=712&h=600&ei=XAg-UL67EaXs0gWwioD4BQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=489&vpy=166&dur=979&hovh=207&hovw=245&tx=73&ty=126&sig=101939479282901271012&page=2&tbnh=138&tbnw=202&start=17&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:17,i:155

Also when I was a child we gathered pine cones, sprayed them in gold/silver or fake snow or even glitter and put them in a bowl.

You can go through the woods and pick holly and ivy and display it in a vase? Last year I took clippings and put them in a winter hanging basket.

I am wanting to bring more greenery into the house this year for decoration, its free and as long as you aren't ruining natural habitat or anything like that I don't see the harm but also you can make your house smell lovely.
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

We only have a tree really. Then I hang Xmas cards on string on the walls. We also have fairy lights everywhere :D

Oooh i might make some christmas bunting too!

We hang good old fashioned paper chains up, me and the older 2 made some last year, they both got bored after a while but i spent ages happily linking and sticking them lol :D I'm easy pleased!

This year i want to crochet a snowman, Father Christmas and christmas pud for our mantelpiece display. This also has fairy lights draped along and holly plus anything the kids have made at school/pre-school

We have a tree covered in decorations. Tinsel over all the picture frames, a 'garland' over the fireplace, this is really just fancy leafy green tinsel but my mum has a proper one with lights.

Decorations stuck in front window and wee tree and snowman ornaments.

    Candle holders on hearth.

My mum's house is decorated to the same extent, with additional lights round windows. My sis (22) still sprays snow designs on her bedroom window.

If you are wanting home made decorations I would recommend craft crocodiles. I made some of them on Mon. the foam ones are very easy, there are others you colour in. I got some sequin balls too, they are a bit more difficult/take longer but look good.
  • Just found some Jack Skellington Christmas craft projects, I love Jack Skellington, I think he would look great at the top of my black tree.

Just had a look at crafty crocodiles, looks great, will have to bookmark it, noticed it also has Hama beads, we're Hama fans here.

We only have a tree and whatever cards come for us - or the children more accurately as I don't bother sending any out, so don't expect any to be sent to me! But then I'm very bah humbug about Christmas anyway. :rotfl:

I bought some Laura Ashley Christmas tree bunting a few years ago and everyone admires it. It wouldn't be that difficult to make, I don't think they do it now though I think there might be a different version.

And, at the weekend, the baking shelves were being sorted at our local Waitrose for the Xmas goodies:D

Mrs Northman: you reminded me that there were some fantastic glitter skulls in Paperch@se last year that I bought, but didn't use.:o

We have a tree and various garlands and fairy lights. Only put the tree up last year, for personal reasons, but might do a bit more this year.

I like the festive look but by new year I can't wait to take it all down again :D

My kiddies are very little, so haven't really appreciated decs yet but I guess this year my eldest might get into the spirit of things. He did like his nursery christmas concert last year...

I remember seeing that bunting in Laura Ashley last year, it was in the sale too, wish I bought it now.

Might have to see if I can pick some up this year.

I'm always jealous of others pictures on FB when they have decorated for Christmas, as some really do go all out, I think I'm going to give it a try, although like you once Christmas day is over with, I've had enough of hearing DH moan so I usually take the decs down, but I won't be this year.
