I usually have plenty of food but I have started to build a 'proper' stock and bought UHT and dried milk, some tins of vegetables etc, not items I would usually have in.0

And they worry about reform of the House Of Lords:p
I doubt it's worrying the population of the UK..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Was in Asda this evening, around 9pm. It was far, far busier than usual with people filling their trolleys. I tend to go on a Monday evening because it is quieter.
Flooding. Terror arrests. Crop shortages.
Gonna stock up on bog roll coz I am sh!tt!ing meself.

Well, I am quite good regarding toilet rolls(over 50)and there's only me in the house:rotfl:
Big survey mentioned on the radio, now remember they say the average wage is £26,000 no one I know earns that and never have...a shop assistant in Aldi's earns between £8,000-£9,000(That's on their own website)
Anyhow, it turns out in this survey a family of two parents and two children reckon becuase of the cost of travel and child care etc...they need an income of £37,000 annually and if you are single you need at least £16,000.
Who is going to pay that? They like paying a minimum wage and letting the Government top it up! Now those on benefits due to unemployment/illness are you getting anything like that? I don't think so..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

i don't believe that a single person can live comfortably on this amount, cos rents are about £400-500 and a single person is very unlikely to get a council place and at £16k, you earn too much for working tax credits!!!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -

There's the problem...a two bedroomed property around here classed as Social Housing is approx £95 a week, a three bedroomed approx £100 per week and there are few one bedroom/two bedroom properties so even if you said I'll downsize, you'll be lucky to find one...but in April we have that bedroom tax coming in where you'll have to find £13 for each bedroom not used, if you get 25% discount for Council Tax as a single person, that's being reduced to 15% sso what 's that going to do to the incomes of people working or on benefits?
No wonder many genuine people are worried...it is political but it is one reason why we are having to try and save money and do things like having a store room...and if you go into the private sector that is fraught with problems too...
I agree regarding the £16,000 being ok for a single person, you may eat less but you still have to pay utility bills, travel to work(if you have a job)rent, Council Tax, food and whether you are single or a family it still costs the same to heat or light a propert and with less money coming in its more of a struggle.
Again our government when universal credit comes in is capping benefits at £16,000 for single people and £25,000 for a family of two parent and two children. There won't be any more if your family is larger..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I think they will try and get me out but again where are they going to dump me. If things stay as they are it will be tight but I might be able to pay for the unused rooms but I really will be living a basic life. No luxuries...but I think some of my help will be stopped or reduced so I will be forced to go...
I'll wait and see what happens...no good worrying yet..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
