Mormons are encouraged to keep a stockpile of food and supplies at home as a preparedness for the 'days of famine', and to be self-reliant. This is interpreted in different ways but there's lots of stuff online about it - impressive/scary videos on youtube too, some American Mormons store an incredible amount.0 -
Callie,
I'm glad that you explained, I knew it was something like that but wasn't too sure how to put it..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Hi,
I don't have a stockpile as such but always have extras of a few things.
So, how long should a stockpile be able to keep you going for? Weeks/months? And is there a basic list of what makes a good stock pile?
Thanks0 -

I too am young and everyone makes fun that I am as organised as my nan haha. I hate to run out of things and went a bit mad when I was last pregnant so have recently had to run my stocks down a little (15 bottles of handwash is a little excessive!). Luckily I too have a decent sized utility where it can all live!
My mum is terrible, she lives in a beautiful country house with a huge walk in pantry and never has a tin of beans or anything and is always borrowing from me or my nan. She shops daily at M&S in her dinner hour and never thinks even a few days ahead - spends a fortune that way it drives me a little ma. Think she has made me the way I am!0
