London Bus Strike

If only he hadn't won those races in Moscow and LA, he would not been made Lord Smug and, with luck, we wouldn't have got the Olympics and so no bus strike.:)
I blame Ovett and Cram myself.;):)0 -
Surely if it takes 4 weeks to train a bus driver, it should take half that for a tube/train driver as they don't have to steer. Why are they paid twice as much as bus drivers? Both have unions.0

Do DLR trains have drivers?
Isn't there something weird on the DLR where there are no drivers but they employ someone to sit there anyway? I think the unions had something to do with itThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

There is a 'conductor' who can manually move the train if the automated systems malfunction. It is a safety matter and nothing to do with the unions. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

It's not my field so I bow down down to the expert. HOwever I'm pretty sure the only reason why the union agreed to automated drivers was because there was a union agreement a human would be employed as well. For one thing the underground only has a driver. Therefore it makes me think the "conductor" is a Honary position. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have no sympathy. A bus can only hold a certain number of people so the fact that they are more likely to be full does not count as extra work in my eyes, its not as if they have to drive further or load luggage etc so as far as I can see they are demanding extra cash for doing their job. The emergency services will have their hands full and see no financial gain from it plus all leave has been banned during the games so I don't see what the bus drivers have to whinge about.
The strike is all because of greed.0 -
I still cant understand why tube or bus drivers should feel that they are entitled to a bonus because they will be busier over the olympic period! How about other workers such as emergency workers, hotel workers, cafe workers etc who will also be extra busy but will just get on with it...
Next it will be Royal Mail Staff demanding a bonus because they are extra busy at Christmas, at least with Royal Mail staff they carry their burden of being extra busy at christmas every year without making a song and dance about it.0 -
RM staff do get a bonus at Xmas.. OH has worked there 25 years and he gets an extra bonus payment at Xmas, in about the second week of December or thereabouts.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

Do you want to have a little think about that and, maybe reconsider.
There is an immense flaw in your logic.
If you need a clue, just ask. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
