    my son went to bournemouth uni open day in march. as its a 5 hour drive from where we live, his grandad offered to take him. he decided to make it a mini-break so booked a hotel for the weekend.my son went to the open day on his own, then spent the rest of the weekend having a look around bournemouth with his grandad.he didnt mind going to the open day on his own at all, but he did say most had parents with them. hes also glad that they stayed the full weekend as he got a real feel for the place, and decided thats where he wants to go
