Perhaps you're confused because HMRC DIDN'T notify of tax credits change. Thanks for your unhelpful and unfriendly post.

The reason then that you hadn't been informed is because you declared a false income for 10-11. Had you declared the true income then your award notice for 11-12 would have shown your 12-13 payments reducing. HMRC can only inform you if you tell them the truth. Obviously they now have your correct income and have had to amend the payments immediately.
It really is no-ones fault but your own.

Helpful or not, it is the truth.

No, the truth is they are sending out letters today when my tax credits were stopped yesterday. Did we put the wrong figure? Yes, I'll hold my hand up and say we put the wrong figure. But that was for two years previous (10-11), 11-12 I told them I was getting £19,100 and they still gave me tax credits. I am not sure if this is their error or not. 12-13 I have told them the same figure and not getting any tax credits and no notification.

If for example you declared an income for 10-11 of £14000, then you would have got WTC (incorrectly) in 11-12 even if you had given an income of £19100 due to £10k disregard. When did you 1st give the figure of £19100? Your renewal this year is the 1st time you would have declared it for 11-12 so this will be the 1st paperwork you will receive showing it, however if at any point in 11-12 you had gave an estimate of £19100 then any award notice received after providing the est would have shown a reduction.
The fact that you said your payments have only just reduced shows that this is the 1st time HMRC have actually been informed of your true income.
Back to the original point then......why is it HMRC's fault?

What about those with disabilities - has this changed ?
No, other than some inflation increases. Between about £18k and £27.5k depending exactly what elements.
