Buyer demanding refund for faulty goods before sending it back.

If its out of date and therefore I assume useless to anyone why would you want it returned?
I think this is a rare case where to make life easier you just write it off and refund (you did agree that it was out of date?).
Becasuse
1. They could be trying to do a switch, although you probably wouldn't be able to tell.
2. Do these things 'really' go off. They would get a refund and probably use it anyway.
As a seller I had someone complain about an item (makeup), demanding a refund. They filed a dispute and then when I agreed I would refund on return of the item they dropped the dispute. Hmmm....me thinks they had obviously used the item.0 -
Posters were calling him unreasonable but to be fair I think the seller was being unreasonable in the first instance by selling something out of date (clearly from their own admission they knew that) and not declaring it on the description.
The OP didn't admit to knowing the product was out of date. What the OP said wasme4bargains wrote:(I didn't realise to be honest otherwise I wouldn't have sold it).:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
My point was really to show the purchasers view of the transaction. Most of us would be a bit peeved to say the least if we had been sold out of date goods - he may be wrong to want his money back before returning - but he has the right to be angry about it. Yes, it's fair enough that the buyer is a little annoyed but the OP has already said that he/she didn't realize that it was out of date.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

You know something peeps I still have the original reciept of when I bought the gel.
And I now believe the buyer is trying it on. I bought the gel in October 2006 and he claims it expired in June 2006 so I believe it may have been a switch job.
He bought it on BIN now and asked me to send it asap even thought I said it would take 5 working days.
However, there is no way i can prove he swapped it can I?Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

You can always tell him this (and the other thing previously posted about marking it etc) that you have the receipt. Was it from a high street store? If he's adamant its out of date and you refund you could always try taking it back to where you got it from. Might be worth a try.0 -
I bought it in October 2006 that is five months ago so i doubt I can get a refund.
What a sad world it is when you can't even sell a simple beauty product with some charlatan taking advantage!!Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

You did use that invisible marker on it did'nt you???? Tell him you must have it back first to check its the correct one and that you'll refund all if its correct. Odds are you won't hear from him again.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I sold some anti-cellulite gel on Ebay. I have now had a rather curt email from the buyer claiming it was out of date. Fair enough I am in the wrong (I didn't realise to be honest otherwise I wouldn't have sold it).
However he is now demanding a refund within two days and then he will send the gel back otherwise he will report me to Paylpal and report me to Ebay.
I have asked him to send it back and I will refund total costs including return postage, am I in the wrong?
IMO you are not in the wrong. (and i just started selling lol) unless he sends back do not refund.Need to get rid of my Yankee Candle Habit, Not very money saving of me0
