some background. Im currently on sky HD paying £72/month, along with BT infinity for TV and internet - currently £62/month (thats with 24/7 calls, unlimited downloads and included some extra for call costs, and arrears from when BT didnt up my DD).

So - buying a new house, and want to cut costs. Need internet & broadband, so had thought to carry that pack over, and ditch Sky - taking a Freeview HD PVR (£300 ish for a decent one) for recording/HD purposes.

Well, BT cant offer Infinity in the new house until later this year (at the earliest) and currently theres no BT line as the current owners are on Virgin. They have offers to reconnect for free (as they currently cant offer the services I have), provide standard broadband until infinity is available - then upgrade me, reduce my downlad package to 40 GB (currently using between 20 and 26/month) and also add BT vision (ultimate pack) - so no need for the PVR. Cost for that - keeping my 24/7 calls and allowing some for my call costs 90845/0878/mobiles0 will come in at £50 ish.

Sounds good - but i looked at Virgin as its currently being used in the house. I can get their 30GB package, plus 24/7 calls, plus their TV XL package (more channels and more HD) for £66/month, OR their 60GB/Xl TV and just free weekend calls for £59. If I go this way i would need to pay BT a "get out of contract" fee which is £90.

given as i have put £300 aside for a PVR box, and budgeted £62 for phone/internet (what Im currently paying) both BT inc TV, and Virgin are viable options. Virgin will run a little higher than now (once calls are added) or Ill have call costs on top - but offer a better selection of channels. BT will come in just under what Im currently paying.

So - as I know little of virgin/cable and nothing about BT vision - which is the better way to jump here.

Excluding mobile operators, Virgin is the most expensive in the UK for non-inclusive calls (0843/0844/0845/0870/0871/0872/0873).

umm - though I get those numbers included in my mobile phone pack though - and can add them to virgin for £2/month.

Are you sure that's not just 0845 and 0870 numbers?

Might be yes, though its not just the phone details, its the internet and the TV as well. the extra odd call charge might well be offset by other things.
