Problem with Orange

Around July time last year i had a company ring me up offering me a new phone on Orange on an 18 month contract which i accepted.
The new phone turned up and after a couple of weeks it was cut off by Orange. I rang their customer services and explained the problem to be told the phone wasnt registered in my name. I explained that it was brand new and i had the phone in my posession to be again told that the phone wasnt in my name and their was nothing he could do.
I returned to using my old number which was also on Orange and sent the 'New' phone back to the company that had shipped it to me.
I continued to use my old number and in December upgraded with Orange on an 18 month contract. 2 weeks after doing so i received a bill for the other number asking for me to pay for the previous 5 months worth of the contract. I called Orange once again to ask for an explanation and theyve basically told me i have to pay for both of the 18 month contracts in full and that the phone was never recieved by the company that sent me it in the first place and i didnt send it recorded delivery.
Ive sent a letter to Orange asking them to justify this and have said im willing to go to court over it but was wondering if anyone on here knew whether theyre allowed to do this?? Afterall i did ring at the intial time of the problem and received no help from them at all.

I am really sorry with your plight and I can't offer much help, however this is a perfect example of registering with Telephone Preference Service (TPS) so that you do not get anymore cold selling calls. Never never buy over the phone by a cold caller.....If you want something do your homework and SELECT the company to buy from.
I do hope you get it sorted and someone on here can give you some good advice.
Good luck.
DWhat goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
what it looks like is the company did a sneeky way of getting a sale, instead of an upgrade they set up a new contract
how long before you sent back the phone as there is a 14 day cooling off period, do you have proof of postage that you sent the phone back?
sending the phone back should have cancelled the contract
have you been recieving orange bills for 2 numbers or just your usual one?Yes Your Dukeiness0
