Where to buy a hard drive?

Options
Hi,
I need to buy a replacement hard drive for a Toshiba Satellite C660-10T laptop.
Could anyone advise me on where is the best/cheapest place to get one from please.
Thank you.

    I like ebuyer.com .

They are reasonably priced, have a good service and the occasional offer.

Ebuyer are usually ok, dabs are normally fine, Amazon sometimes have them as well.
Scan I wouldn't use personally, I've had several nightmare RMA's with them (including a DOA HDD that they lost for 5 weeks before admitting it and sending a replacement).

The only thing I would watch is the heigh of the drive, I can't seem to find anywhere that lists the height of the unit in your laptop, but you need to be aware that there are at least two different heights for 2.5" laptop drives, so if you can measure the drive before you order a new one (my guess is it'll be a 9.5mm high drive).

You're probably looking at around £45-55 for a new drive depending on the capacity you go for :)

Have just been looking for one to replace a PS3 hardrive.

    Loads on amazon and ebay.

    SATA, 2.5"

Have used DABs before for PC hard drives which are a different size.

Thank you all for your help.
So does that mean that I just buy any SATA 2.5" hard drive and that they don't need to be for my particular laptop.

    Dabs, Amazon, eBay.

And you are correct, disk drives are not model-specific.

I would suggest that you keep clear of Dabs their customer service is problematic see here: http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.dabs.com )

If you google "sata hdd 500gb 2.5" samsung" or similar you will get prices - just change the size manufacturer as you want. Generally I prefer WD and Samsung (now Seagate) HDDs

I've chosen one on Amazon do you think this one will be alright.

Looks good to me, although you might want to go for a 7200 rpm model if you want to squeeze the last smidgeon of performance out of it.

I replaced the disk drive in my business partner's laptop about a year ago (he is a technical ignoramus) and something like that cost over £100.
