Is there much difference in paint coverage between the 2? i.e. does the paint go as far with both methods?

I prefer using pads. Had our hallway painted by decorator and he used roller. Looked good until I touched up marks we'd made when hanging pictures with a brush!!! bad move. Waiting for him to come back & put good my handywork. That's taught me a lesson the hard way. Don't have those problems when using pads.

Touch up with a brush, then go over with a good mini roller (no need to dip it in the paint) to get a seamless finish. I had to touch up some areas including a water stain, and you can't see where I did it. If you've run out of paint, just buy a sampler.

Cane Adam do good mini roller sleeves, pricey though.

That's a really good tip. Many thanks. I made matters worse by going over with roller (that I had to buy). I'm just going to wait for expert to put it right & then keeping well away from walls. Have learnt my lesson the hard way.

Argh this is one of those threads where opinions are split down the middle. You should have put a poll onto it!

you would never see a professional decorator using a pad -

my oh is a painter and decorator for 38 years, he will only use rollers. i made the mistake of buying pads once, not really knowing the difference it did not go down well and they got binned, :)
