I would check out the Sharm forum on Trip Advisor.

Re: airlines, do you mean you are booking independently? The likes of Kayak, Opodo and Skyscanner should help.

Just remember it going to be as hot as hell in August. I was there last week and it was already 40 degrees.

Ohh, so you've read all the recommendations on Trip Advisor (about 150) and they are not for you?

Sharm is very good for sub aqua of course and if you do not already dive it is an ideal place to learn. Can be expensive though. Excellent snorkelling there too if that floats your boat. Boat trips too. Quad biking trips in the desert are popular. Trips to Cairo either by air or road also possible (to see Pyramids etc) but consider the heat at this time of the year especially. Any beach based activity available. If you are looking for culture then this is not exactly the best place to be for that to be honest.

Area to stay? For me it has to be the Naama Bay area but it purely depends what type of holiday you are looking for.

Hope this helps to get you started on ideas.:)
  • Never been to Sharm but did my PADI in Dahab, which is a couple of hours up the coast and is fantastic.
