Ex has mobile but conract is in my name :(
I took out a contract phone for my ex partners 2 boys, we have split up now and im worried about the contract being in my name.
Does anyone have any advice? I spoe to the mobile phone operator and whilst nice enough, they want £800 to cancel

You could cancel the SIM and get the network provider to send you a new SIM. That'll cost you £10 or so and you can then continue to use the contract yourself. Or if you don't mind paying the bill you could ask for a credit limit of £5 or so on the account so if they go mad with it you won't be liable for too much.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

The OP has not said that they refuse to give him the mobiles with the sims back. I think the main problem is that he doesn't need the contracts and doestn't want to pay for them. You could cancel the SIM and get the network provider to send you a new SIM. Only at Tesco Mobile you can set a limit on any account. T-mobile do this for You Fix tariffs. Other networks, even if they set a credit limit, do this only for their own protection and don't guarantee that it cannot be exceeded.Or if you don't mind paying the bill you could ask for a credit limit of £5 or so on the account so if they go mad with it you won't be liable for too much.
It is not clear if your ex agrees to pay you for the contracts and how reliable she is. Generally contracts can be transferred to her name if she agrees and passes the credit check. If she refuses and is not trustworthy your only option is either to pay the termination fee or to use contracts yourself. You may consider transferring the contract to some other people and paying them some money as an incentive.any advice appreciated0 -
Yes, the contract remains your responsibility, and the only way to save is to pay off the minimum and give notice of the cancellation when the minimum term is up. Not all networks will permit a spending cap, so this may be a non starter. You can of course knock out the handsets and get replacement SIM cards so you remain in control of the spending (as previously advised), or you can tell the network they've been mislaid - this will not block them, so a replacement SIM on the same network will let the boys get back online at their expense.
Alternatively, you could ask for them to be blocked entirely, and they will not be able to use them with any SIM.0 -
Ask your Ex or the boys if they are of age to takeover or pay off the contract or take the phones etc back.
If they don't want them I think you are stuffed!0
