There's already loads of good suggestions but just want to add this as it's one of my favourite filling store cupboard meals.
Minestrone pasta stew: 100g dried butter beans, 150g dried pasta, 75g dried lentils, 1/2 diced onion, crushed garlic cloves (if you like), 1/2 carton passata, stock cube, as much frozen veg as you like.
Even better with some fresh bread. If you are doubtful about the yeast or have bread making issues just knead little balls and squash them and cook as pitas. Get the oven really hot and chuck them on a rack at the very bottom of the oven. They cook really quick, give them a pat down with a spatula and wrap in a damp tea towel for authentic pita texture.

Cabbage goes very well in that too! Cabbage wedges rolled in oil/butter and oven baked are delicious too.

i was going to suggest bubble and squeak for the cabbage, but you could always add cabbage and lentil burgers to you'r repertoire lol

You could pick up a chicken in Aldi for £2.59 for a small one (I don't know what they are in Lidl) and I stretch mine to 2 meals for four adults from one bird
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Re the sausage meat - when the kids were little we used to have "cowboy pie" which was sausage meat and baked beans in a pie. It was surprisingly good. Haven't had it for years - might have to make it again. Could also do it like a shepherds pie with mash on top.

I'd def try a whoopsie shop, tomorrow we're having lamb casarole, the lamb cost 33p, i don't really like lamb but at that price i'll eat it, also got 2 chicken breasts for 24p. my 24hr store reduces everything way down at 9.

Can you make some sausage rolls? other than that i'd go for some cowboy pie, or you could make them into little meatballs and do a sausage casarole with them if you don't fancy pasta and meatballs.

  • Sausage shepherds pie is lovely, I chuck in a chopped up onion and oxo cubes with a tiny bit of water, put sliced tomatoed/tinned tomatoes on top and then mash. Really nice meal and easy too.
