    Hi

How about porridge for breakfast for everyone - make with half water, half milk with either sugar or jam. Or even better, raisins.

    Eve 1: Naan Pizzas

Eve 2: Taco Bake: I'd suggest taco mix with passata and broad beans and frozen veg baked. You'll perhaps need something on the side though, maybe rice or couscous?

    Eve 3: Risotto
    Eve 4: Pasta
Eve 5: Broccoli & Cauli bake with the packet mix sauce.

For puddings, you can make rice pudding with 'normal' rice, if you have any. Would be nice with stewed plums, come to think of it!

I'm sure a more experienced OSer will be along with more suggestions, but that's what I think I'd do.

    Good luck!

Hi gailey, I've been wondering how you are getting on. Sorry about this blip. I think we have all done it.

You can make bread and pizza bases with 7g of yeast. I make pizza bases with 500g plain flour, 7g yeast, salt, 2 tablespoons oil and 300ml warm water. Knead well, leave to rise once and then divide into four and roll out, top and bake for 10-12 minutes in a very hot oven. This makes big pizzas so you can half the mix and just make 2.
I would try the bread mixes, if they don't work you haven't lost anything. You can always add a bit of extra yeast to them if you have it spare.
Sausage meat I would turn into meatballs. Add in some finely chopped fried onion, bread crumbs and herbs. Brown in some oil and add to passata to finish cooking or just fry until cooked. Then you can put them on pizza, add to risotto, make into burgers or make noodle soup with the super noodles without the flavour sachets and add them to that (just cook the noodles in a pan of stock and add in any bits and pieces that you have)
You could use the taco seasoning in these or add it to the cous cous with any veg you have.
Hope that helps a bit gailey. Good luck xxxx

Forgot to say that you can make rice pudding from risotto rice. Sure you can google a recipe xxx

There's a dish called jewelled couscous which, if you google it, seems to be mostly dried fruit and nuts based. However, I often make a similar dish from couscous, onion and frozen veg, odd bit of Quorn. Might also work with sausage meat balls. Bit too similar to your rice dish though...

I suppose the problem is diverging too much from what your family normally eats. Good luck for the next few days, anyway.

the sausage meat is something I use regularly for a dinner - sausage meatloaf. Will give basic recipie but often alter ingredients to whatever I have in!

    pack sausagemeat
small pack sage and onion stuffing (or some of your breadcrumbs with assorted herbs)
    1 onion
1 apple - have used peppers, celery, courgettes etc instead(or as well) without probs
1 egg - haven't left it out myself but its just for binding you might get away without it!

Blitz the veg into small bits in food processor. add stuffing, sausagemeat and egg and mix well. Flatten into a baking tin ( i use pyrex and it doesn't stick in that) and bake for approx 30-45 mins till brown and cooked through in a moderate oven

For my family that makes 6 adult portions so would do 2 meals for you - one hot, one cold

Your bread mixes might need more yeast if there old, i would try it and see if they rise first.

Can you raid the kids money boxes if they have any?or a coin jar? behind the sofa, under the bathroom cabinates (hubbys forever dropping money in our bathroom)

You do seem pretty much sorted now but if you could get abit extra it should take the pressure off.

Do you have any tinned fruit? my kids love tinned fruit in a loose porridge or value rice pudding. you could even try stewing your plums for this, even tho it's porridge it seems like pudding.

  • GAILEY - I have used sausagemeat to make bolognese sauce and the family loved it, you could use any leftover sauce to top a pizza, that works well too - Cheers Lyn x.

well I cheated a little guys.

    rang golden valley dairy-our milkman.

guess similar to milk and more.

its slightly more but we pay once a month so milk on credit.

other week we got trial small veg box from them.
was non organic trial price 4.99
was impressive had bananas, apples, apricots, pears, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, cress, onions in and was really good.

the 4.99 was intro trial price.

they only deliver veg boxes wed-today so very short notice

but will be with me by 1pm today:)
its the large family box and shes given me intro price of 6.95
if its double size of what we tried other week i be happy.
my kids eat loads of fruit and potatoes gives me more options.

    they only deliver milk mon/thur.

    so tommorow

they delivering extra milk to last through to the monday so dont have to worry about milk all weekend:)

ordered 12 free range eggs on special offer £2.50
so that allows me to make cakes
    and omlette
and scrambled, boiled and fried eggs.
large pack bacon-think 12rashers-allows me to make bacon rissotto, add to pasta, bacon sandwich or cooked brekkie.
they dident have butter or yogurts
small pack mature cheese-as know we relying on cheese a lot.
hoping veg box has cress so hubby can have egg and cress rolls for work friday and daughter can have cheese and tomato.
added 2bottles orange juice 89p a pint as nearly out of squash can water down for the kids.

so probably added extra £20max to bill but think ist worth it as gives me so many more meal options will still be on run down and use what we have.

love the fabby ideas feeling more positive.
was feeling bit down this morning.

love os everyone always so creative.

going to try scrape the change for yogurts, more spread and milk.
reckon need a fiver which should be able to get together.

netmum woman made reduced offer on a buggy which may accept as pays some bills and sellings rubbish right now.
