Welcome Ally, all very friendly here!

    Afternoon All
Back from work where I broke the news that I was leaving so lots of hugs and nearly tears from me. Got till next Wednesday till I say goodbye, 13 years is a long time to be in one place.

Washing dried on the line, folded and put away (that's the bit I hate), managed to get away with no ironing again! Put some more out but the weather is looking a bit grey now. Just cut the grass in case it rains again for the next week, mower not picking up very well but, like me, it's old!

Hoovered out the car as DS2 is borrowing it for a week and thought I had better make an effort as it is his GFs graduation tomorrow and then they are going with her parents to the Isle of Skye for a few days.

Waiting for the builder at the moment, hope he comes soon. Sausages and mash for tea when DD gets home and DS2 arrives, could be a late one.

    Take care. XX

spoke to my friend yesterday -her 17 year old nephew died suddenly earlier in the year - it would have been his 18th later this week and his parents are struggling terribly - those of you who pray please say one for them as they are talking of killing themselves as they have nothing left to live for. It is so sad for all of the family and my heart goes out to them.

Tappers - :( I don't pray but will think of them, must be so sad.

Sun has been shining most of the day :) but has gone now.

Feeling much better, just have a chesty cough now. Looong day in work. Work kids had lots of educational work to do today, and as a treat I decided to take them to the beach this afternoon as they had been cooped up all day. And all they did was moan  - they don't like the beach (they did last week!), it's too hot (really?!), it's boring (they had a football, rugby ball, and whole beach to explore), !!!!!!! ungrateful kids, I should have dragged them back to do more work. But instead me and my colleague bought ourselves ice cream and went for a walk on the beach :rotfl:. But they have put me in a bad mood now. I shouldn't take it to heart, it's just cos I'm tired/been ill. They go off on 3 weeks work experience next week so I'll get a break from them :j.

OS wise - packed lunch made, HM freezer meal for dinner.

    Have a good evening all

Oh, right. Nearly six o'clock and I've only just got here.

What have I accomplished today? Mmmmmmmm - not a lot.

DDoll: Well done with your gardener. Would he like a working holiday on the Isle of Wight? I keep going out and looking at mine and wondering what to do with it. A flame-thrower comes to mind.

nmlc: Hope all goes well with the funeral preparations. Isn't it wonderful how relatives that never came near or did a hand's turn to help during someone's lifetime suddenly become their main support and dearest and closest family member once they've gone. I've heard of this happening over and over again.

Ally: Welcome. If you've been lurking for any length of time you'll know that we're all a tad crazy but VERY supportive. And if you're another failed slimmer you can be my best friend!

Having said that, my lunch today was cottage cheese and salad. How virtuous is that? No, I'm not going to mention the cold sausage I ate while I was getting it ready. I was eating it standing up so it doesn't count, does it?

See you all tomorrow - maybe. I'm off to the mainland at 7.30am and am fighting all the festival crowds on the return journey so goodness knows when I'll get back.

taplady that is so sad how awful,17 is no age, no wonder they feel so desolate I will chat to the Big Guy as usual tonight and remember all who are sad and down today.

Even though its only almost 8 weeks until we go away I have been surfing for next years holiday already and tonight managed to book the last fortnight in August for next year back on our beloved Isle of Wight we will be going to Sandown for a change and by booking so much in advance instead of £2590 for two weeks for 7 of us I nmanaged to get it for £1896.50 and the deposit was only £25.00 just had the confirmation through DD is buzzing as she love the Island as she spent so much time there as a little girl My ma-in-law lived in Northwood outside West Cowes and we spent most of the summer there for years. So its sea Palling this August and Sandown next.SWaved bundles by booking so far in advace though which will more than pay for the ferry and a good bit towards the fun as well. The house is right on the front by the beach and has three en suite bedrooms plus another twin room so lots of space for us all.I am very pleased with what I found completely by accident as well.
I have been pottering around all day and made some cakes and scones and did a bit of paining of a chair that I am sprucing up for the spare room.Weather is gorgeous at the moment fingers crossed it will last a bit longer.
Have a good evening everyone whatever you are doing and <<hugs>> to those who are down and blue

Had the day from hell, I worked from 7:15 'til 4:30 without a break or a sit down, phew I'm knackerd.
I've had poached egg on toast for tea & all I've managed to do is get the dry washing in, put another load on & load the DW. My ankle is painful & swollen so it's a good excuse for putting my feet up as I expect tomorrow to be as bad. I have to collect hubby around 10ish & then I'll go to bed.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Hi all,

Welcome Ally...we are nice here if a little touched at times.

Taplady....so sad for that couple...couple I vaguely know have lost their 21 year old son in some kind of accident at Euros 2012....

    nmlc.....people can be so rotten.

DDand DGS arrived safely Perth....only took them 30 hours...

OH has to go back to hospital to-morrow as his Warfarin level was high to-day....just what I want before we go away!

The husband of one of the ladies in the knitting group had a stroke the other night, not too bad I don't think, he never smoked, rarely drank and walked every day, he is 83 so I suppose that doesn't help.

We had pasta this evening for dinner....just some lo bacon, chorizo, onion, pepper and cheese tossed through linguini....very tasty. Really need to get the fridge emptied as there seems to be lots that needs to be eaten.

Hester...chin up, there has to be some holiday time around the corner....in the meantime take things as easy as you can.

Ruby...congratulations to DD on being offered another job...pity it is too far away.

Lou....glad that you are feeling so well, but don't overdo things.

Hugs to all whom I have not mentioned...

Stay well and safe all, sleep well
