VODAFONE lost my handset
I called vodafone to arrange a repair for a handset I have on contract. I have 3 lines and handsets in total with them.
They agreed to send me a repair return pack and to send the phone in, which I did on 22/5/12.
I have also got a proof of postage certificate from the post office.
Now then, having heard nothing from them for three weeks, I called them.
They have booked the wrong phone in for repair. Neither I or the customer services handler confirmed the handset, so i think its just one of those things.
Having explained this, I am told, I will be called back they need to check and look for the handset.
No call back I call again, no call back. I call again and get schmoozed by a chap promising he will get this sorted out and leave clear notes on the account.
I am told to fax in the proof of postage or take it to my nearest store for them to fax. (it is the day of email)
off i shlep for 30 miles round trip to the nearest store, and its closed for a refit, open in 10 days time.
We dont actually have a fax service in my area, it is very rural. and the closest store is now 70 miles round trip from my house, so Im not going!
I call them again, and persuade them to let me scan and email the proof of postage over. Several emails later they get the attachment.
4 Days later, it gets faxed to their warehouse, who have already confirmed that they have lost/not received the handset.
So finally today, after call, after call, after call. they offer me a measley £50 towards the cost of a new/replacement handset or a lucky dip reconditioned one.
Im not happy. I dont think its enough. Its not my fault the handset theyve lost is no longer for sale. It was a samsung extreme, water proof and virtually indestructable. Ideal for a 10 year old child.
The handset is a year old, and the LCD screen is damaged internally with no external damage, chips or cracks.
So am I right to ask for a better deal. ?
Have I just got PMT?

I make you right you are entitled to a better deal, but that will depend on how long you have left on your contracts.
Have you tried emailing them? or calling to say you want to cancel?
As for faxing, why dont they ever suggest taking a photo and emailing it?
