Any decent BB deals / providers out there that can be recommended that don't include phone line deals? Simple fast unlimited broadband ( I'm not in a cable tv area )

For standard ADSL you will need a valid phoneline (as in you will need to pay line rental). It is generally cheaper to get LR with your BB - TalkTalk are one of the cheapest as is the Post Office.
Companies so BB without LR is you are in contract - check with your mobile phone provider.
If you don't want a phoneline at all, the best (and only) choice would be wireless with a company like Vodafone or 3.My user name is SkyInsider... I worked for Sky quite some time ago, also worked for Virgin Media and a few other tech companies as a consultant. All views are my own0 -

O2/Be used to have a good name.
I was with O2 for 3 years or so and WAS getting an excellent service at a superb price. For the last 6 months they have been awful, my download speed, at times, is non-existent and no matter how many times I complain they do nothing at all about it. I am on the point of moving elsewhere ............
They may be worth looking at - but check what sort of service they are giving in your area before you "sign" anything.

We used to use plusnet and pretty sure that their broadband does need a telephone line. Our internet usage is very light, will mobile brandband be an ok option?
Actually we are with talkmobile and can never use up our free mobile internet usage, is it possible to transfer that allowance to our computer/laptop?0 -
I have a BT line with a regular BT phone service but my BB is with Orange currently. Recently their service has become rubbish and I was thinking of a possible change to a different provider. I don't want to mess about with phone and BB deals, just an easy replacement for my BB only0

Well in that case I think plusnet is not bad. We used plusnet for about two years and the internet was stable, speed fine and customer service ok.
But we don't seem to use our home phone at all and I feel it's a waste of money to pay for line rental and doesn't use it! Will mobile brandband be reliable enough for email checking and some very general browsing?0 -
That totally depends on whether you can get a decent 3G signal at the location. Check before you sign up, as there is no get out after the event! Do NOT rely on a postcode checker. Borrow a 3G phone if necessary and test.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

That's an excellent advice as there is really 'NO GET OUT'. I will be very cautious this time as I am just suffering the PRIMUS SCAM now;)0 -
I was with sky and was getting download speeds of at best 1mb. Got a 3 Mifi and was getting speeds of up to 2.6mb. What I did was go through quidco and pick up the Mifi on a 15gb one month rolling contract. Then phoned 3 to cancel and cost reduced to £10.88 a month for 15gb allowance on a 1 month contract.0
