In all honesty I think it is to do with the gpu and the drivers.
A while ago I updated to the new nvidia gpu driver (cant remember the code). And my PC started freezing up crashing and randomly going black screen and all sorts. I saw on the internet that alot of people were having the same problem with the new driver, so I used the roll back system in device manager to go back to the former driver I was using.
I dunno if there is still some unresolved conflict there.0 -
I did roll it back using DM but there could be unresolved conflict since I never explicitly uninstalled the the new driver 301.42 .
I dont know my GPU temp but it cant be high since I dont have an overclocked system and my 2 front reared fans are always on.
Maybe a clean install of the GPU driver is what is needed rather than rolling back?0 -
You don't say when it froze. Was it when you were coming to this site? If it was then it is a common and known issue, but I cannot recall what that issue is!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Why not try one of the previous driver downloads 295 or 296?0

The issue is I still dont know what the problem is. The GPU is only my suspicions.
I talking about a crash where the display image is completely frozen but the computer is still running. So that has something to do with the GPU. Usually I would suspect a faulty GPU but not this time because latest Nvidia driver 301.42 was very buggy for me and resulted in the same type of the crash, flickering when gaming and complete loss of display image (to a black screen).
I rolled back to a previous driver and most of my problems disappeared but Im wondering if the legacy of driver 301.42 (since I never uninstalled it but just roll backed the driver) is the cause of the random freeze I got yesterday.
What Im getting at is I have no way of knowing or testing what the problem is.0 -
Uninstall gfx driver and clean up with something like http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655
Re-install an earlier driver.
Run in turn the GPU and CPU stress tests from http://www.ocbase.com/604!0 -
How long does the stress test take?0
