best iphone 4 insurance
Options
Hi,
I have got an iphone after 2 years of a HTC. love it!
i am being very careful with it at moment coz it's not insured!. i am generally quite good with electronic kit and do look after it, but I'm reckoning this should be insured?
What proportion of people insure v . not and does anyone know of any good deal?
thank
L

Have you had a look to see if it's already covered on an existing household contents insurance policy? You may be able to add phone cover for a small fee. If someone in the family has a subscription bank account, mobile phones are often included as a benefit to these.0

How iPhone is different from HTC or many other smartphones in terms of insurance?
And what exactly do you want it to insure against?
Also, AFAIK insurances don't cover faults. Do you realise that unlike for HTC the warranty is just 12 months?0 -
Warranty is seldom an issue as the build quality is superb, however an iPhone is considerably more expensive (and desired) so theft is a greater problem. Adding it to your home contents policy will be the most cost-effective option.0

Look at getting accidental damage/personal belonging's cover on your contents insurance (if you don't already have it). Shouldn't cost very much.
If you go through one of the websites like Protect Your Bubble you'll end up paying WAY over the odds!
For example, Protect Your Bubble Charge £7 a month to cover an iPhone 4S, but my contents insurance is £14 a month including accidental damage and personal belonging's.0 -
This is over-simplistic statement as it doesn't take a possible excess and lost NCD into account.0

My excess is £100, still cheaper than getting a refurb'd phone from Apple if something goes wrong. As for NCD, it really doesn't have much effect on premiums anymore, even when shopping around the best deal I could find was for the same price as I paid last year.
The best option is to cover it on your contents insurance, if the worst happens, you get a brand new phone + warrenty for the cost of your excess (unless of course the phone develops a fault, you may want to look at Apple Care for that).0 -
thanks all for your replies, i will def. check with home insurance cover as a first port of call.0

The worst thing about iphone insurance is... the excess will always be more than ANY other type of phone of even a similar value.
The joys of buying an apple product0
