Last week my ESA payment was late,I got it on the 11th,again.I knew I had a direct debit coming out of my account for my car insurance, some £35.
So the day I got my ESA,I called my insurers to be told they went to take the payment around 7th June but it'd bounced as the was insufficient funds, payment wasn't due until 11th of the month.
So I paid the outstanding amount by debit card.
Checked my bank account today to find I was £35 overdrawn. My insurers had taken the payment on the 13th but because of the delay in processing payment's,the debit card payment was showing as the same day as the DD coming out.
Called my insurers to find out why I was told the wrong information as I wouldn't have made the debit card payment if I'd been told they hadn't taken the money at the time.Insurers also told me they only had the debit card payment.
Called the bank & after explaining the above, they refunded me the £35 under the indemnity clause.Called my insurers & they finally admitted they had both payments & they could either refund the money,by cheque,or take it off the insurance payments outstanding.I informed them my bank had refunded the money.
