Answer the phone, and tell them that you have no need for their services and that you want to be removed from their calling lists.
Depending on their reply, you can also add that if they call you again after today, they will have breached OFCOM rules and you will report them.0 -
It may or may not have been your insurer - lots are involved in selling on leads like this (officially and unofficially), and ambulance chasers do cold call too.
See if you can speak to a manager and get them to stop wasting both of your time.0 -

Don't know which OFCOM rules they are breaking?
You can't report cold callers to Ofcom, what you need to do is put your number on the TPS list.
Then after 28 days all cold calls (should) stop. Then if you get any you can identify you can report them to the TPS.0 -
Here's a link for the TPS. Register your home phone and mobile(s) right away then just tell any callers you're registered and wish to be taken off their database. http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/number_type.html0

Just been on the tps site the numbers that i have entered say that they have already been registered as this is the case how are the companys allowed to call ?????????????0
-
There are problems with tps:
1) Seem toothless (never hear of them taking any miscreants to court)
2) Can't stop calls coming from abroad
3) Rule breakers don't give you their details to report them with!0 -

Apologies...it is indeed the TPS that would take any applicable actions.
I sourced the information via the OFCOM site.

All you have to do is tell your caller the number is registered with TPS and has been for more than 3 months. If they continue to call you after that you report them to the TPS who carry out an investigation.
I follow this advice and rarely get a nuisance call.0
