I don't believe this! I was wrong! There is no 0.5p/min charge on calls to UK landlines on 1899 - even using 0808 access number!

The reason I got it wrong is because on the main page of 1899.com (right at the bottom) they actually list the 0808 access number for 18866!!!!!

So, if you have to access via 0808 number, 1899 is cheaper on all calls to UK numbers that last longer than 2minutes!

thanks all - am now on cable and have swopped to the different number - plus i have convinced my mother swop to it too instead of her *inclusive* phone package - reckon it will save her at least £10 a month [and she is a pensioner so will make a real difference]

mind you it might save her even more - had to put my card details in for her cos she doesn't live very close to me ;)

thanks again for all your help over this

Does your mum know my mum? Mine has done the same thing, they are crafty, aren't they?!?!?!

I don't begrudge it her, it ekes out her pension a bit and she can ring who she likes for as long as she likes. Pity more OAP's can't take advantage of this.

mine seems to be struggling with the concept of it all - can't work out how it is gonna save her money <banghead>

have told her to stop worrying - use the phone as much as she likes and i will show her the bill at the end of the month.

she wondered if cable would ask her why she wasn't using them anymore - i told her martin lewis put me onto it so that made her confident it was *legal* lol

    hi dave

just reading about your use of 1899 for the internet with telewest... am i right in thinking that is a cable line that you have cos i have tried all sorts of ways to get cheaper internet access with my telewest cable line and cant seem to get it apart from signing up to TW's own unlimited package at 14.99 ... and my son tells me i could get an unlimited package cheaper elsewhere if i had a bt line.

    thanks
  • I recently got my email invoice from 1899 (cable user ;) ). Less than £4 for my calls as opposed to NTL charging £15.50 for their unlimted 24 package.
    You just can't teach it...
    Spread the good word :D
...and then the window licker said to me...
