My husband slipped going to turn the light on in the corner of the kitchen he didnt see water from dogs bowl we used to have 7 spotlights in kitchen now just 40 watt uplighter. The floor is tiled.

Then I'd have to say there's no claim to be had against the builder. Water on a tiled floor is a major slip hazard as sadly your husband has found out. If it hadn't have been there your husband wouldn't have slipped I'd guess?

Water on the floor from your dogs bowl isn't the builders fault unless they spilt it and then didn't mop it up afterwards. Even if that was the case I don't know how you would be able to prove it wasn't spilt by either your dog, yourself or your husband at some point.

I hope it's good news for your husband when you see the consultant but I really don't think you've got anything to claim for against either the builder or the insurer. :)

I do agree . If we had lights he would have seen the spillage. The problem is we have been left without lighting ? We are using uplighter fro living room plug sockets at far end of kichen if we used ext lead trip hazard ???

Going into a room when you know there's no virtually no light was a risk your husband took sadly. I take it you don't keep a torch in the house? Could the builders have left a temporary light fitting up? There's all sorts of questions that could be asked but it doesn't change the fact that it was a bad idea to have gone in there in the first place knowing how little light there was to see what he was doing.
