eBay changing the buy it now figure, etc

I am quite new to using eBay and yesterday listed an item (digital camera) and made a mistake when typing the 'buy it now' figure (too low) plus one other error giving the impression there was a manufacturers guarantee period. Neither of which can be changed under the 'revise your listing'?

I have tried to find the answer on the eBay site but not that easy and so far it seems to say there are only certain things you can change otherwise you need to cancel and re-list the item. Is this right - will it not p*** people off and will it not bring negative feedback?

If you have a bid you cannot change anything. You need to cancel all bids and relist otherwise you risk someone buying your item at wrong price and then leaving poor feedback.

Soolin thanks so much for such a fast reply. It has bids so will need to get back into the eBay options and see what to do. EBay is not that easy for a new'ish user and I aint thick - honest I'm not:D

If it has bids then all you can do is cancel and start again. Never leave an incorrect auction running, cancel it while you can.

I assume this is an auction with a BIN enabled as of course a BIN auction would not have bids.

Not sure what a BIN auction is?

But thinking a bit more - even if you have a 'buy it now' price (which hasn't appeared yet on the listing even though I choose the option and eBay email confirms it) do you have to take it or can you let the auction carry on as it may get a higher price?

    Questions, questions - sorry :o

Just been digging into eBay help and see the 'buy it now' options goes when you get your first bid. When I listed my first bid was instant hence why I never saw the 'buy it now' appear.

Jeeps I sure need to mug up more if I wish to use eBay more:rotfl:

In that case it is correct and the money you paid to enable a BIN option has been wasted.

Incidentally, if you do pay extra for a BIN price and someone uses the BIN option then yes you must sell it at that price.

if the warranty is still showing you will still have to cancel though as that will form part of the auction contract.

Yes - particularly with an item like that, it is going to make a lot of difference to the selling price so if it arrives without one you are going to have a lot of aggro.

I'd pay far more for something like that than I would for just an old s/h thingy.

You dodged a bullet on the BIN but definitely cancel and relist. You need to be as accurate as possible - I know the price depends on a lot of factors, and if it's a good item it may well fetch what you want for it anyway, but you do not want a disappointed buyer after the event.

The camera is only 2 months old with a genuine reason for selling and I have a 100% clean record with excellent feedback for the few things I have sold. So I do like to be totally honest.

I have ended the item and it now gives me an option to relist but will clicking that mean I can get my facts right this time or should I start off the process again from scratch?
