It developed a fault was told to get proof of the fault to show it wasnt me who broke it i did and got a exchange but i had to pay a extra £50 because they nolonger did that model that the new one was the next closest price model. So got it home and within 5 months its developed a fault. for 130 pounds u dont expect that to happen so soon. Im thinking of just moving to sky as im fed up of this happening. i have my reciept do you rekon as this is the 2nd freeview box ive had they will give me a refund as i dont want it repaired or replaced again.

i aint going to mention sky otherwise they might get suspicous.
many thanks in advance

Argos sell some rather rubbish Freeview Recorders. (Bush, Thomson, Hitachi etc.)
The best boxes they sell are (with good reviews) the Humax. Best check reviews on their website and around the web before you buy the majority of their rubbish!!!!

They asked you to prove it had a fault, how did you do that?

If they have stopped selling the one you purchased they will probably refund you. If they still sell it you can try to get a refund but that will be down to the individual store.

You can certainly ask for a refund but they can reject it

for future reference - you didn't 'have to' - if its faulty you are entitled to a full refund
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

...depending on when it went faulty...

EDIT - i.e. if it's faulty after 11 months, they can ASK for a refund, but are not ENTITLED to one.

But if a repair or replacement isn't possible, what remedy can the consumer expect?

I find it strange that all electrical items I've bought from argos have all been faulty.

I bought a dvd recorder years ago and that didn't work, a digital camera, dubbers, a microwave, a cd player. All faulty?

Family members have mentioned they have had a few faulty items from argos too so I avoid buying anything electrical from there anymore.

Do you think this is due to
    a) Coincidence
    b) Argos employees opening the boxes of all electrical products sold, taking a screwdriver to the product and modifying it so it doesn't work?

I've always wondered if manufacturers give Argos their seconds, they do seem to have a very large percentage of returns.

I don't. It's because, as mentioned above, they sell garbage brands.

When it comes to Freeview boxes Humax are good, I've also had good experience with Sagem (which are particularly easy to use). Thomson are a complete joke.
