Help needed using Chrome

Thanks Tox and Simplistik it is all making sense now and sorry to have been so thick but I am in a very fragile state at the moment and part of which my grey cells are under performing

I have to go out now so will give Opera a good work out later and thanks again for sticking with me and making sure I was able to get it :beer:

Ok, glad you got it,

i hung around because i thought you might come back and say "But there is no Opera Icon at top left"
That happens when the "Menu Bar' ( the 'File' 'Edit' 'View') menu is enabled.

In that case all you have to do if you have the 'File' 'Edit' 'View' menu showing at the top,
Click on 'View', Hover over 'Toolbars'
then enable the 'Status Bar'

Open a new tab so the bookmark bar is showing, then right click on it and tick the 'Show the bookmark bar' to make it always show.

You can then go one better and click the spanner (top right) to 'sign in' to Chrome and then have all your bookmarks appear on any other computer you use too - tres helpful!

the latest opera seems to have a few problems like freezing on say the bbc news site
earlier version might be better
