After having a number of problems with IE8 (as per a recent post) I have been taking a look at Chrome but finding very few options to personalise it unless I am missing a point.
My main thing, on IE, is that I like the favorites panel open all the time, on the left hand side, so I can quickly go from one favorite to another and often opening a number in new tabs. Is there anyway I can Chrome to do this, or is there any downloadable add ons that may be an option?

Press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+ and fill the bookmarks bar to your heart's content.0

Thanks but still see no option to have the bookmarks panel open all the time as in IE?0

What version have you got?
I've got version 13. On that you need to click the spanner to bring up a menu, then go Options > Basics > Toolbar, then tick the "Always show the bookmarks bar" option

Yes I have been through the settings with a fine toothed comb and have ticked to always show the bookmarks bar. This is the bar across the top but what I was hoping for is to emulate the IE way of having the panel always showing down the left hand side.
I was thinking it may be a bit like FireFox with a lot of personalisation but there is so little that can be changed. Shame as it is faster.0 -
Opera is relatively fast and light and will show bookmarks in the manner you seek (select Panels > Bookmarks).604!0

No square but not sure if you are making me work something out in a puzzle like way. I am just recovering from major surgery so could do with an idiots guide to this.0 -

Tox is right, but under certain circumstances you won't see the little square down at bottom left.
The 'Status Bar' needs to be enabled.
Click on the Opera Icon up at Top Left corner,
On the drop-down menu, Hover over the 'Toolbar' option
Then check the 'Status Bar' option
then it should appear..
