Three Mobile (boo hiss)

I gave in my notice to Three Mobile exactly 30 days before the end of my contract.

My last payment is due to come out on 24th June, which is also the end date of my contract. HOWEVER, they are now saying I have to pay an early cancellation charge of £30 on top of the £35.75 due out on 24th June!

I am arguing the point that I gave my notice exactly 30 days before the end of my contract AND the payment about to come out is the 24th or 25th payment on this contract so surely my time is up (I can't tell for sure as they've locked me out of my online account as I used a pac to transfer the number!)

Everytime someone calls it's an indian call centre and they really don't seem to understand me and go off saying they need to recalculate the bill.... I am starting to get so stressed about it and I don't know what to do. I am more than willing to pay the £35.75 I owe them, but refuse to pay a cancellation charge. I know £30 doesn't seem a lot of money, but to us it is especially when I can't get my head round WHY they are insisting I owe it! I'm really worried I am going to get a black mark on my credit rating if I don't pay up but to me this is a CON to get more money.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this with three?? I don't know what to do :-(

If you've already used the PAC to transfer the number, you have effectively terminated your contract early. The PAC should not have been used until after the contract end date.

Ugh - when I gave in my notice they gave me the pac there and then and said I had to use it by 23 June or they would consider my contract was to continue and I would need to call up and cancel again.....!!

If that's the case (i.e. using the pac counts as termination of contract!) then that makes sense - i.e. why they are saying I finished early......

I may still fight it though as they didn't say anything about the fact that using the PAC before 23rd would constitute immediate termination - if anything they indicated I HAD to use it before 23rd June......

I officially hate three. I have had nothing but trouble. Lesson learned.

You'll have the same thing at the end of this contract as well, especially if it's with T-Mobile. A PAC is an option to cancel, you took up this option before the end of your minimum term and Three have charged you for that, which they are entitled to do.

Had you used your PAC on the 21st for example, you wouldn't owe them anything.

Really? The only reason for not using it earlier is that you will be charged for the remaining days regardless.

They are talking rubbish. In fact your payment on the 24th is likely to cover the part of the billing month after this date. If so, this will leave your account in credit and you has to be able to get a refund.

Can someone explain me, Early Termination charges applies as extra cost for cancelling before contracts end or remaining line rental charges till it ends?

It's either next 30 days or all the remaining days whichever is bigger. Nothing extra unless you go over your allowances.
