Car fire whilst with a garage
Can anyone please advice me on below:
My car was with a garage who was taking it to another garage for a diagnostics test. On the return trip to the garage whislt being driven by a memeber of there staff the car went on fire and was a write off. The garage was not very helpful and said it was one of them things. I am under the impression it comes under there insurance but they have denied liability. My own insurance are taking my excess of the value of my car and taking 2 years no claims bonus even though i protect my no claims when taking out the policy. If anyone has had a similar situation please post back as i am very stressed.

If the mechanic was driving your car, he must have been driving the car under his own insurance at the time.
He should have full garage insurance with public liability, road risk cover, goods in transit cover etc etc - the full works.

It's not as simple as that, the garage may well have cover for customers vehicles. However a car fire may well not be due to their negligence.
To be able to claim from the garage you would need to prove their negligence.
Some MT Insurers may well pay for a fire claim in these circumstances, but unless they were negligent the garage does not need to pay for the damage0 -
And what about my no claims i had 4 years, and they have said as i am now claiming they take 2 years no claims of me even though i protect my no claims bonus???0

Are you paying to protect your no claims bonus ?
Have you had any other claims in the last five years ?
Which Insurer is it ?0
