UKash is not a scam.... i use at all the time for my betting account.
The reason these people exploit it is it cant be reversed like a debit /credit card can..... so once they get that number they truely have the money.
My question is how these people get the money off the voucher?? do they have an account with UKASH? or are they diverting the money elsewhere!!!
UKASH is well aware of these scams and have a warning on all vouchers......Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Today I received similar text from group-autotrader dot com asking me to pay £70 collection refundable fee trough Paypoint. I looked on "who dot is" domain name and found out that it is registered just 2 days ago and web site looks professional. Just to warn others, as they look like just started with this domain name. Also looks like they are switching this web site from domain name to domain name if people discover them. I saw on other forum honestjohn dot co dot uk that they used domain name tradein-autotrader dot com and that domain name now do not exists.
Well scam, like I see.

report it to https://www.actionfraud.police.uk and also to autotrader.
a new scam website xxxx-autotrader.xxx gets created pretty regularly unfortunately, and there is a limit to what autotrader can do about it.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

What is needed, is for a bunch of web activists to go out, track down this scum and get them locked up.
Because it's these scams which the authorities are playing off of, in order to turn the population in favour of internet censorship.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

This type of scam is alive and well, it's a scam.
Received a text today from 07472828620 saying...
We offer X amount (nearly full price) CASH and collect tomorrow. Visit www.guaranteed-offer.com and enter provided purchase Id.
I was wary but curious so I went to the site and filled in some details then was advised that it's costly to send their agent out so could I please pay £75 (refundable but normally £150) towards the agent costs which would be returned to me by the agent whether they bought the car or not. It's a scam...
The old adage still holds up "If a deal looks too good to be true, it's a scam". Walk away.0 -
Why do people think random text messages could be anything other than a scam?0

When a retailer sells a ukash voucher, they have to go through about 6 warning screens before they get to the "enter value" screen! There's at least 3 screens warning that they should not do ukash vouchers over the phone (scammers sometimes phone stores purporting to be from Paypoint and ask them to do a "test transaction" and read out the number on the reciept to them). Then there's 2 screens to make sure the customer is over 18 if you've selected over 18 option (used to for gambling or censored websites such as !!!!!!).
But I add an additional check of my own: I ask them what the voucher is for. Straight up. Especially for middle aged or older people who ask if we actually sell "something called a ukash voucher" - they've clearly never used one before and don't entirely understand what it is!
A common scam which I've helped a customer avoid is the "illegal activity detected on your computer, pay this fine and your computer will be unlocked". I refused to sell him a voucher. He was a bit miffed. I told him to take it to a computer specialist who would be a lot cheaper than the £200 "fine" the message was demanding!Could HAVE. Should HAVE. Would HAVE. Not OF.0
