well I think I would have been divorced years ago if it wasn't for relate.
Oh and I were going through a rough patch and I went, on my own.
I was able to talk with someone, who wasn't biased, and she helped me put things into perspective in an unbaised way
If I had gone for further sessions a fee would have been payable which I think was based on income /ability to pay.2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

£15.88 saved to date0 -
It depends on your ability to pay. I paid £25 per session because I am a student. I went during and after the split up and I did not attend with him. If you go for the "bursary" approach then you only get 8 sessions.In the words of Nemo "Keep on Swimming"0

It's also worth trying Marriage Care.

They're also specialist relationship counsellors. No actual fee is charged, although donations are requested. No-one is turned away if they can't afford a donation.
A close relative went to them and she and her partner were really helped.0 -

They wanted £50-60 per session from us because our on-paper income was high. Disposable income, after our mortgage and travel costs, was not. I went for an initial session with my ex husband and the counsellor seemed to have no understanding of our issues at all.
They wanted us to come weekly, and there was just no way we could afford that. My ex said we'd be better spending that money on going out for dinner a couple of times a week and talking then, and would probably get the same results. In fact driving home, it was the first time we'd laughed about anything together in a very long time! :rotfl:
What we did find very useful was the books they have written about various relationship issues. We'd both read one and then talk about what stood out for us.
It works well for some, and I've had very good counselling elsewhere since. If you get a counsellor who you connect with, that's the most important thing I think.0 -
