First Fatherless Fathers Day

  • Hi, lots of love and hugs to everyone.

It's my first father's day without my dad, he died 18th December 2011. Intsead of sadness I try to focus on the great times we had and that I consider myself to be lucky to have had the greatest father in the world. Many people aren't so fortunate. I'm sure our dad's are still looking after us in their own way.

Hope each and every one of you are coping as best you can.

So here's to all the dad's/grandad's/and father figures who have gained their place in a better world, happy father's day, and thank you for all the love and support you have given to us throughout the years. Until we meet again :) xxx

I lost my mum 6 years ago and have found mothers day impossible to get through without crying ever since. I lost my father when I was a child and that still hurts too.

I find the going out for a meal when everyone is surrounded by generations of family absolutely awful, and as my husbands parents are gone too that doesn't help.

But this mothers day I had a bit of a moment, and thought (6 years on remember) its about time I started remembering that I am now the mother and letting my kids spoil ME. I dont want them to remember every mothers day with me weeping about my own mum.

Give it time, lots of time. It doesnt really get easier, but it does get easier to live with.
