help me find genuine HP laptop screen

Options
Hi.

I have a HP G6 (1196SA) pavilion notebook laptop and i cracked the screen and got it replaced by a local pc repair shop, anyway, after using it a few days ive concluded its not the manufacture recommended screen because the colours are not as precise as it used to be, (eg on this forum, the green parts are more greyish)

anyway, i think hes supplied and fitted a generic one. even though i gave him all the details. other than its fine but its really bugging me, and ive tried fixing it via colour enhancement but cant get it right, so i want the original screen.

im having difficulties in finding the precise screen..

Im looking for a 15.6" diagonal (39.62cm) HD BRIGHTVIEW LED DISPLAY screen for a HP PAVILION G6 (1196SA) NOTEBOOK (witha possible p/n of QC170EA).

ive paid £100 for the replacement screen but i reckon its not BRIGHTVIEW but a standard one, which ill keep as a spare, but would like the original screen (which i can fit myself)

2nd hand or brand new...

please can someone help me find this?

Thanks!!!

I only have the information I found online to go on, which suggests that is the correct part number for the Brightview screen for your model. I suggest you give lcds4less a call tomorrow and ask >> 0161 354 0622

Including shipping and VAT this one is £70.80.

The price you paid is about right for someone else supplying and fitting a generic screen.

one last question ive just thought of, in device manager when i expand monitors, should it give a specific name (like the part no of the screen youve listed above, or make /model)of the monitor that will determine if i have the right scren or not? looking for proof that this lcd screen is generic and not specific before i go back to the pc repair shop and argue for a refund...cheers

No. Chances are you'll find out what you put in is the same as the one you take out.

There is no such thing as a generic budget screen as you're thinking.

just trying to figure out why theres a noticeable difference in the quality mainly with the colours. im assuming its not manufacture specific (the original one is meant to be Brightview and im worried this one isnt which might explain the difference in quality???)

The only way to check is to look on the back of the screen and get the partno and then google it to see what you actually have.

If you have or can get the original screen you can check the partno on that too. HP will use several suppliers for these screens - there are actually very few manufacturers.

For each laptop there will be different options (and qualities) too - have you gone back to the guy that fitted it and asked him why the colours are not as they should be?

ive googled the one i have now installed, the model no is B156xw02, doesnt say who the manufacturer is (google comes up with AUO.)

the correct part number for my screen ( i no longer have the original) is HP 639514-001 as per HP...however, doing some more searching reveals that my current screen whose part number is 601349 which google comes up with no data, also has the same model no b156xw02.

anyway, im taking it back but i dont know what the outcome will be coz on the phone he says you have the correct screen and a replacement screen will never be the exact same as original.
