please remember all these computers and laptops were once new and cost top dollar at the time, you will never keep up with technology, but any pc is better than none.
the only thing is to be very careful if you have not been on the net before, every body is out to rip you off, always use a firewall and a good virus software, and get help if its your first time online,
a lot of libraries have starter courses for free and don't be scared to ask your kids, most of them have been using pc's at school for years

Agree this should be on the Grabbit board where it will be seen. It's aimed at people who need our help to get online so lets get them online.

Not a very constructive reply to OPs post, rather harsh I thought

if you want an old piece of junk ;)

Why take a risk on ebay where you get no guarantee the item will work.

I suspect you can get a much better spec at the same price or less off ebay

That's better, good on you, there is sense here after all
The PC matches the spec of my current set up .... and I've been using my PC for 6 years now and all my income's made online, so I am online virtually 24/7 (on a dongle too).... so not necessarily a piece of junk for everybody.

My stuff works for me ..... others will find it equally suitable.
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

Hardly a Grabbit if there are thousands of them and they'll be available for the next 2 or 3 years ...

... and how on earth are they going to read this thread if they are not already online :rotfl:

As for the spec of the desktop, there's an electronic shop near me that sells systems (without screen) that are Dual or Quad core P4s, 4 or 8 GB RAM and 500 or 750 GB disc with genuine licences for XP Pro, Vista Home or Pro for about half the price. Most have DVD Rewriters and occasionally other goodies.

They are very helpful, would assist any purchaser and definitely offer more than 30 days warranty.

You can. I've bought a few. And in the unlikely event of something going wrong the after sales help is usually excellent. I had one develop a fault & was offered an immediate refund.

But don't go shouting about it. So long as people are happy to pay these prices then there'll be better bargains on eBay for the rest of us.

Apparently you are expected to pay for the system without having a detailed specification, which seems a bit "unusual" to say the least... It also says that you get Windows 7, but the other Microsoft software doesn't seem to be detailed.

The Desktop Computer shows a picture labelled "Your computer will be similar to the one shown in the photograph above" which apparently has a wireless keyboard & mouse and a widescreen monitor (19" by comparing to the width of the keyboard). If it arrived with a 17" 4:3 monitor then that would be significantly different.
