Due money back from Vodafone, pls help

Hi,
My husband taken out a contract with Vodafone and they charge him for the handset which should have been free, complain about this and received a letter that the money will be in the account with in 14days off the date on the letter. We don't even have the handset anymore as its was not suitable for us. Two months on still no money. Any advise?

They are notorious for taking money easily and making it very hard to get it back.
