Go ahead and buy the diesel.

I got my first diesel in 2002 (it was a '52' plate Peugeot 206, currently my nieces), and I've had them ever since.

They're cheaper to run, which mitigates the risk of cancer quite nicely :)

Assuming you don't drive too often with the windows open, most cars built in the last 10 years have cabin air filters which are often as good as HEPA filters.

100% agree, this is just another report from government funded organisations which spout scare stories which allow governments to raise taxes further.
I defy anyone to find anything in the report which actually adds to what is already known.
Eating burnt bacon is probably more risky.

A modern diesel with a working exhaust no. If you bath in red diesel then yes probably

Or you can use natural sunflower oil or similar and really enjoy yourself without worry

Does anyone ever use those disposable gloves when refilling , thats about the closest contact I reckon

I'm pretty sure paying for and reading, "The Mail" rots your brain too.
  • Have you seen how many lorry drivers are older chaps, many of them been driving trucks for 40+ years, and many of those years in really old designs with no emission control of any sort.
Dipping rags into fuel tanks and lighting them under fuel tanks in the real winters we used to get, to get a real dose of Diesel fuel to sniff and absorb.
Then getting the things to fire up and the whole truck disappearing in a fog of white smoke for some 20 minutes till all cylinders fired up properly.

I wouldn't worry too much about poncing about for a couple of hours a day in a modern car with a sewing machine engine, a lifetime of running wouldn't put the soot and fumes out that an hour of old truck engine running would emit.

The reason this report has come out is that Diesel cars are cheaper to tax than others...this will give !!!!!! turpin the reason to raise VED's, just another tax grab.
