Lady kicked my dog :(

Was out with Tyson earlier and a lady walked past with a little dog on a lead. The path was narrow and as they walked past Tyson went to sniff her dog. She went hysterical and kicked him shouting him to get off her dog! Her dog then started barking. Tyson just stood back and looked totally puzzled as to what all the fuss was about!
I said that he was just having a sniff, but she kept shouting about how dogs 'like that' (German Shepherd) should not be allowed in public places! My friend then told her that the dogs were fine and just saying hello, but that her reaction was winding them up.
Tyson then decided to make things 100 times worse by leaning in for another sniff (narrow path so very hard to stop him). She then kicked him again, and stormed off saying she was going to report us!!
I can totally understand that she may well have had bad experiences with GSDs before and may have been scared, but to kick a dog when they have shown no sign of aggression at all I think is totally wrong.
If she was scared because of his size etc then it makes no sense at all that she would kick him?
I was so proud of him for not retaliating. He has been known to be grumpy with dogs, but all the hard work I have been doing recently seems to be paying off as he did not react negatively to her dog at all. He also did well not to react to being kicked in the side either.
Sorry for the rant but it really upset me, just needed to vent.
If she were to 'report us' what would happen?

Report you for what -having a dog well under control in a public place? If she's daft enough to try it, she's not going have anyone taking any notice at all.
I'd be very tempted if I saw her again though to give her a mouthful - I wouldn't have been anywhere near as restrained as you in the circumstances. And well done to Tyson for not reacting - you must be really proud of him.
What did the silly woman think she was doing kicking a dog "lilke that" if she really did think he was aggressive. Talk about how to get yourself well and truly bitten. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I couldn't give her a mouthful, I was too shocked by what I was seeing!
I think she must have been terrified to have reacted like that, it's the only explanation I can think of.
I did wonder what she would report us for, and there were no injuries to any of the dogs (although I expect Tyson may have bruised ribs
) 0 -
You call that b1tch a "lady"?
Not only Tyson was being good - you were too.
Jesuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus I would wipe the ground with anyone kicking my dog....
Why done YOU report HER?0 -
Who would I report her to?
The more I think about it, the more I think she was lucky that he didn't retaliate. Due to his past before he was rescued he could well have reacted badly to that.
She really is taking a big risk if she goes round kicking strange dogs0 -
GRRRRR - a woman once kicked a dog I had a few years ago in the mouth. Her dog was always loose on the street, and any dog I have had I have never let loose.
When he was taken out her dog always used to jump on ours and with ours being submissive her dog used to attack ours. This happened regularly and we used to ask her to please not let her dog wander the streets.
My dog wasn't good one day and while being taken out for a bit of fresh air, out comes her dog again and attacked him. This time though our dog had obviously had enough so told off her dog - didn't bite it, just growled in a manner to let her dog know enough was enough and when her dog went to bite mine, mine put his paw up, growled to stop hers. His paw caught her dogs ear and her dog squeeled a little and she came bounding across and booted my dog in the face.
My daughter was taking the dog out at the time and I think that is why she felt she could do what she did. We didn't take it this time, our polite approach had vanished. Needless to say she didn't do it again and moved shortly after
Sadly some people are breed specific and think that if one dog has a bad rep, all dogs of that breed do. This woman had no right to kick your dog and if she had done that to mine she wouldn't be doing it again.
As for her "reporting you" do NOT worry. Your dog did nothing wrong, and as she was the one who booted your dog, I doubt very much she will report you.
What I would strongly advise is to report the incident to the Police, because if there is another run in, they then have an accurate record and you can report each incident. In addition, if one day she does decide to report you, the Police can tell her you have already reported the incident
Just ring them up and tell them you want to report an incident thst happened when you took your dog out. Do not mention about her stating she would report you though otherwise they may view it differently. Tell them your dog was physcially attacked and ask them to record the incident and that you are informing them incase any situation arises again.
If you do not report it, and something worse happens next time, it will be more difficult - whereas if they have a previous report of an incident and another happens they see the fuller picture.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
It wasn't somewhere local to me, so I very much doubt I will see her again, luckily!
I am just worried now that she may do it to someone else's dog who is not going through intensive training, and she may come out of it a little worse for wear!
From what she said about 'dogs like that' I guess she has had a bad experience with German Shepherds. Maybe one didn't like being kicked?!0 -
She wouldn't have been walking for quite some time if she kicked my dog. poor Tyson

I hope the next dog she tries to kick sinks its teeth into her foot0 -
It doesn't matter if it was local or not, still report it to the appropriate Police station. If she has been reported previously they can then go and have a word with her about her behaviour, and it is likely she may have previously been reported.
Keep an eye on your dog too, where did she boot him? I feel so angry for you and so sorry for your dog having to endure that. Anyone who hurts an animal in my book is the lowest form of scum (and I hate that word.)
Sadly when ours was booted in the mouth he developed a lump on his gum a few months later and he had cancer. I swear to this day that her booting him caused it. We didn't report it amd dealt with it our own way but I wish I had reported it.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
If you cross paths again Maybe you should ask her for her name and address for your report to the RSPCA for her behaviour as kicking a dog is against the law.0

If you see her again , have tyson behaving well ( as he did that time! )...............and you growl at her.;)
Sound like she is terrified of the breed possibly , as are a lot of folk. My mum is terrified of them , wouldnt come to my house very often when i had them ( added bonus gotta say at times
) , at a party other week and one was tied up outside (well outside of the party room) waiting for it's owner, i was about to go up and say hello and obout 4 people shouted ' dont go up to it it mite bite'........porr dog was the one looked terrified all these people shouting and being paniky......paniked the dog, so i left it and went back later. Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
