I remember watching it at 5/6 my favourite film ever! I don't ever remember the abortion plot I just thought she was poorly.

It still is my favourite film ever.

Saw it tonight, I think they cut bits out and shortened scenes. I first saw this in my mid teens and didn't realise about the abortion sub-plot until I was older.

I watched it from being pretty young, about 7/8 and just loved it for the dancing. I had no idea what was going on with Penny until I was about 14/15 and I'd figured out what 'knocked up' meant (I was very naive!) :o
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Me too. I think I was quite old (relatively!) before I realised what was happening with Penny. I thought she was just poorly.

I do remember a friend of mine pausing the video so she could trace around Patrick Swayze's bum though - think we were about 10 at the time. But even that was probably quite innocent, strange as it sounds.

I didn't exactly live a sheltered childhood (I knew too much about too many things far too young) and must have watched this when I was about 10 (must have still been at primary school as I can date it from the friend that was with me) - I think I probably got the general gist of the abortion plot (but it was never a taboo subject in our house - I grew up - rightly or wrongly - knowing my mum had had one) but didn't really care about that - it was just the songs, dance routines and the "nobody puts baby in the corner" line we'd fast forward to - think I still have the soundtrack on a badly copied "home taping is killing music" cassette somewhere... used to listen to it on my walkman... aaah an 80s childhood!

I remember watching this at my grannys along with my other girl cousins - we probably ranged from 7/8 to about 15, and we seemed to watch it quite often, along with 3 men and a little baby/lady.

I didn't get the abortion plot until i watched it when i was older.

I'm not sure how old I was the first time I saw it, but it was my sister's favourite film when she was about 10. She watched it over and over. Wore out at least one video of it.

That would have made me about 14. I got the abortion bit, but couldn't understand why Baby had lied to her dad. It was years before I twigged that it was set in a time when abortion was illegal
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
