We was concerned with this with my cousins 7ish children but they was fine with it. The abortin storyline is never explicit, it's only rewatching as an adult you realise what's going on, as a little girl I never really thought about why she was ill
It is raunchy but not overly so, little girls focus on the dancing and the romance really x xLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6
Completed on house September 2013

I had never watched Dirty Dancing until the other year (I'm now 26) and think I was too old for it, I don't think I 'got' it, I didn't find it romantic at all, actually a bit creepy.0

I don't think a child watching it would understand the "abortion" bit - it's not obvious that's what the storyline is, as others have said, it's only as an adult you would realise what was going on. But probably 11/12 is about right.
I thought of letting DD and DS watch Gremlins, but when I watched it again, I got to the bit about the man getting stuck in the chimney at Christmas and thought it best to lay off that until they stop "believing". But they've seen the second one.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again

Yes, I watched it at 8/9. It wasn't until I saw it as an adult that I spotted the abortion sub-plot - I just thought that the lady was ill.Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800 -
I watched it in my 20s and I don't recall an abortion sub plot
I remember thinking the dancing wasn't very dirty, I'm not sure what I was expecting :rotfl:

It's the reason Johnny teaches Baby to dance so she can stand in for Penny at a performance they are due to perform in. Baby then has to ask her father to give medical attention to Penny as the abortion is botched and he's not very pleased at the company his daughter is keeping (he jumps to the conclusion that Johnny is the one who got Penny pregnant).
