HSBC Mortgage problem

Hi,
I'm currently very near to completing a on my first home. It should be very exciting time, however HSBC my mortgage provider have come up with an issue which stems from Identify fraud back in 2007.
I thought I had long resolved the issue and had a completely clean credit file and my Experian and Equifax reports both score me near perfect so we proceeded with the mortgage. HSBC found some linked addresses when I applied for a current account with them (from which my wife and I intended to pay our mortgage repayments from) which relate to the identity fraud on my Call Credit report which until that point I had never heard of. I got on the case and promptly got it removed from my Call credit file. HSBC though tell me they can still see the link.
I have today spoken to all 3 credit referencing agencies and they have each told me that the address that HSBC are telling me they can see has been removed from my file and they have no idea where they are getting this information from. I know it is a Barclaycard account and have written to them to see they can provide proof that they no longer associate me with the account and its address as my credit reports confirm, but they seem in no hurry to help, despite me chasing them (a complaint will follow).
I guess my first question is at what stage are HSBC obliged to honour their offer and hand over the money. We have had the valuation, signed and returned their formal mortgage offer and had all our searches completed. My solicitor is asking for the deposit so they can proceed, but I'm reluctant to do so in case HSBC pull the mortgage and I lose it all.
Secondly, does anyone have any suggesting where on earth HSBC are seeing this linked address?
Sorry if I've waffled on but I'm quite stressed out by it all, any help would be really appreciated.

HSBC are not bound to honour the mortgage offer at any point. The only time you are 100% guarenteed to have the money is when your solicitor calls you to say hes actually got it, and sent it on to the vendors solicitor.I am a Mortgage Adviser

They are other agencies such as CIFAS and NationalHunters.0 -
excuse my ignorance but doesn't CIFAS info appear on your credit report? There is certainly a section for it on each of them, all of which state 0 entries.
I'd not heard of National Hunters, I'm loathe to hand over another tenner to yet another agency who hold information about me. Seems like a licence to print money starting one of these agencies. Though If you think It would be worth my while I will do so. Not that I have the two weeks it seems to take these companies to respond.
Thanks for the info so far. Seems bad that you can hand over thousands of pounds only for the mortgage lender to pull out on a whim.0 -
Its not a whim, from your post they are concerned about a posible fraud due to the issue with identity theft you had. If you are unable to clear it up to their satisfaction the money you have applied for will go back into the pot to wait for someone they dont have concerns about.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Only members of CIFAS see the marker. As its for reference only. In no way does it affect your credit score.0 -
It seems like a whim, I have 3 clear credit reports. I've never owed anyone a penny, Taking out a mortgage for far less then I've been offered. Done everything they have asked, they have taken my money for setting up the mortgage and opting out of using the horrible country wide conveyancing firm. Only to change their mind at the 11th hour for something I can seemingly do nothing about.
These banks were certainly quick enough to hand out free money to someone pretending to me back in 2007.0 -

so what does me handing over £20 to CIFAS and £10 to the other cowboys get me exactly, and why do I not see it when I spend money on Experian etc?0 -
I understand it seems like a whim to you as you were the victim of the identity theft and thought it was all resolved. But look at it from their point of view, they have found "something" that indicates you do not have the perfect credit you said you had. At least you seem to be getting the chance to resolve it, they could have just said noI am a Mortgage Adviser

CIFAS data on Experian etc will be anything you have added yourself such as a requirement to use a password for each account. A fraud flag will not be seen by the person it has been flagged against for obvious reasons.
Get a copy from CIFAS and you will see what data is held if any.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thought that you had identified the issue as being Barclaycard?0
