I found the best thing to do is just go cold turkey-that is just to stop using them. We would use a nappy a night (didn't use pull ups) even though our son was dry all day and one day we just stopped using nappies-prepare yourself for a few accidents and arm yourself with mattress protectors and bed sheets!

Our son was 2 years and about 9 months when we tackled the night time toilet training. We still get him up in the middle of the night (i.e our bedtime!) so he can have a wee but I'm sure soon we will stop doing this.

I guess though it's what will work best for you. If your child is dry through the day then you could think about taking the pull up off at night?

I am just doing this at the moment with S our 4 yr old, I just went cold turkey, and then did the toileting before we went to bed and when I get up at around 6.30 then she goes back to bed. we have been doing this for just over a week and she has been dry every night bar 2 accidents but we just made light of it and said oh well another night and it is a lovely day for washing ;)
Only issue is we are going camping this weekend so am going to have to resort to pull ups at night but have decided they are going on at the last minute and then off first thing in the morning.. But paitence and a good sense of humour is needed. I found bedmats a waste of time and went on ebay and bought a Kylie sheet like they use in old peoples homes
    Good luck x
