Yes I am serious, hence my post. It is three years old but was hardly used. Thanks for your advice...not. I think its a real shame when people go on this forum, read a post and put up a sarcastic reply. If you think my post is a waste of time or a stupid question then don't bother typing anything and do something better with your time.

Thanks for the other reply, I did suspect I might need to prove that it was not fit for purpose, so probably not worth it and it'll just have to go to the tip!

Some homeless charity or charity shop would be glad of it rather than taking it to the tip.

    Or flog it on ebay.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

A letter to Ikea customer services wouldn't do any harm and would only cost the price of a stamp.
It's unlikely that they will offer anything, but you never know what may happen, especially if they have had other complaints about this particular item.

I thought about selling it on ebay but not sure I'd get much luck when I expalin the reason I'm selling (I think it would be unfair to leave this out).

Its my parents that have told me, I dont think they're rude they're just being honest!

Its probably been sat on only a few time as its in the spare room with wardrobes and nothing else, so no reason to sit in there. I did try it the other day when I came home from a night shift and it was really annoying. It felt like I was sleeping on an angle if I slept on either side or like I was in a dip if I slept in the middle.

I weigh 9 and a half stone so dont think its fat! My parents aren't heavy either.

Micfliar - I never said I expected to get a full refund.Just after ADVICE from anyone whos tried to persue anything under the sales and goods act 1979 (got all the info off this site) so I can't have zero chance or it wouldn't be on here would it?

I don't think it's completely unreasonable to expect a bed to last more than 3 years! How much longer i don't know, but i'd expect it to hit at least 4 years and would be seeking a repair or a partial refund in the region of 20-25%.

I agree it is reasonable for a bed to last more than three years. However, we are talking about a £300 sofa bed. In that respect, I would say three years is about right.

It's quite possible there is something wrong with your one - my Beddinge is coming up on 9 years old and it's still brilliantly comfy as a bed. It's also in the living room so it's used as a sofa daily.

A letter to customer service certainly can't do any harm. Perhaps a reasonable request would be for a replacement frame? That way you can re-use the mattress and covers.
